Salo (Lombardy)

Salò is a town in the Province of Brescia, in the region of Lombardy. It is located on the banks of Lake Garda, on which it has the longest promenade. Salò was the seat of government of the Italian Social Republic from 1943 to 1945, with the ISR often being referred to as the "Salò Republic" (Repubblica di Salò in Italian). The city offers several beautiful palaces such as Palazzo della Magnifica Patria and Palazzo del Podestà, both now owned by the municipality, with a frescoed atrium. The Rocca (castle) is called the "balcony of the lake" for its impressive views. Other sights are: the Romanesque cathedral, the Torre dell'Orologio (clock tower) and the Rocca (castle).

What others are saying about Lombardy

Hi All,

I have a disused gas meter box in the house wall and I have to set a water meter in the wall for a new connection. Can I remove the gas meter box and use the hole to fit the water meter box to save getting a builder/having another unsightly box?
