So fellow scrooges (or not) what would you like for Christmas this year?. I will kick it off with my wish for a new front door, so anyone know of any good carpenters in Southern Marche, please let me know.

Hi I've got a query - can anyone help? We have been travelling in Italy since Sept 1st in a camper van UK registered with UK road tax. This runs out 30th november.
Can anyone advise please, our UK TV which we bought over here appears to have given up the ghost (we get Sky Italia through it). Its sound is fine but the picture is just a thin bright line.

You are right Andrew, both our boilers are on a yearly service contract, which also includes free emergency visits (but not parts). Each has its own book which is stamped after each service, I understand spot checks can be made to see if this is up to date, but dont know how often it happens. The cost is 60euros per boiler with the company we use, who are excellent.A
Hopefully when you do finally get your discount they will back date it to the time of the initial application , they did with us. Took months though...sorry!A
We gave up all our pet insurance when we moved here to Marche nearly 4 yrs ago, and vets bills when compared with the UK are much less, we have 4 cats, one of whom will be 20 next year (Italy obviously suits her), but I believe there are regulations with regard to dog ownership and new legistation is coming in, I am sure one of the dog owning community can advise on that .What I would advise is you research for a good vet in your area, before you have cause to use them, there is nothing worse than having an emergency and not knowing whom to phone or where to go. Hopefully again someone on here may be able to advise.A
With Ram on this one, I live here, pay taxes, use the services, why should I not have an opinion on the politics of the country?. And for that matter an opinion on other things Italian?. Sounds as if MichaelM would allow no dissent or questions to be asked.A
Just another suggestion, put your kettle on the gas hob, but hang onto your English iron, friends complain italian ones dont get hot enough (bit like their weird toasters so hang on to that too). Its just a matter of learning not to have too much electrical stuff in use at the same time, and soon becomes habit.A
Lollita, it would be far more helpful if you could elaborate on your enigmatic replies, then we might all learn something useful, instead of pondering on exactly what you mean!A
Pretty trees!, for the authentic prune you need to go to the local feramenta and equip yourself with this evil looking serrated knife, if you explain what its for they will guide you to the right ones, sorry dont know what its called, but its what we and the neighbours use, its almost like a mini saw in appearance.happy pruning and be careful about whiplash from the smaller branches as they can damage your eyes, very painful.A
