So fellow scrooges (or not) what would you like for Christmas this year?. I will kick it off with my wish for a new front door, so anyone know of any good carpenters in Southern Marche, please let me know.

No Jinty I havent got them yet!, but a prize for the first one liner Christmas joke!, perhaps I should start a joke thread as well?. And after naming my chickens after ancient aunties how could I eat them........A
Tradition versus convenience and productivity?. I am used to a half hour lunch break , a quick sandwich and a fag and then back to work. Cannot cope with large amounts of food at that time of day, makes me go to sleep. But from a working in Italy view, our GP says he doesnt even eat lunch, makes him sluggish, and a friend who has a 40min drive to work and works in a govt dept says the 1.5hrs she gets is too short to return home, but not long enough in the summer to go to the beach!, it also extends the working day and she is home just in time to have supper and go to bed, ready for an early start in the morning.Just my view would be that condensing the working day is a good idea, at least then there is time to go home and enjoy the evening.A
David, our friend, where have you been! anyway welcome back, wasnt me re earhquake, but eveyone involved, I was just the fat controller...remember?Ax
Hi Lisa, glad to see you are getting some good results. For me if I wanted to move again I would be looking at village houses, or houses on the edge of villages which have great views, having seen a few they do seem to be a market that has a lot to offer, reasonable price, not isolated, and many also provide some land or a least a garden, and give you the oppotunity to get to know your neighbours and be part of the community, though as Tony is fluent you have big asset already! I know you are very familiar with South Marche, so hope the search continues to go wellAngie
Didnt know it was a "No Smoking" site!, re Nutella and fags just a joke amongst us more frequent posters, or a joke between friends, Anne will be interested to hear she has changed sex though in the course of this thread!.And I seem to be joining John in going off thread, my apologies.....I think when we joined from the other site we all had to get used to the new format, and now that Ronald is to make navigation more accessable, it will encourage new posters.Gromit also posted a thread on navigation which was helpful, and members are willing to help should one need direction, so I really dont see the problem?A
Thanks Al, have read up on it and it looks like it might work, I wonder if anyone has used it here?, and whats the Italian name for self binding gravel?Much appreciated.A
Thanks all for the suggestions, I wonder re the gravel and if it would work, we already have a gravel drive and its very crunchy, not sure if a gravel terrace would be too much, as always looking for the most economic solution that is also attractive is difficult, and if I knew how to load pictures I would do so, dont think I am allowed to direct you to our website so you can see what I mean but if anyone wants to pm me, will pass it on.A
Thank you Ronald I much more comfortable with this community and prefer it to the old format with the old problems. I feel much more relaxed here in the company of people who are helpful, and polite, and supportive, and there is still room for humour and debate.A
Oh so you are buying your own now!!!!!A
