You've got until Saturday to enter France, before the entry ban for UK citizens comes into place.

European PET Passport.

Anyone had experience of getting a European Pet Passport for a dog in Italy (or possibly France, when we drive down)

As a Brit with a holiday home in Northern Italy, its been over a year since I have been able to visit it.  Last time was in February 2020, when the highlight was a meal out with Italian friends in a crowded restaurant in Bergamo!  Luckil

Travelling through France - UK Quarantine

Looks like people travelling through France to the UK could well be soon required to quarantine themselves for 2 weeks on their entry into the UK.

Are there companies in Italy that just change kitchen units doors and worksurfaces, rather than a complete replacement of the units?

My house has a semi-underground store room that was nice and cool during the recent very hot weather - the dog and I spent a lot of time in it - me reading and him asleep on the floor.

I don't think you necessarily need to non-stop  through France on the way to italy, only on the way back to the UK to avoid quarantine.

Don't think there are any restrictions on entry into italy from France or Switzerland

If things stay as they are now, you can avoid quarantine by staying out of France.   If you drive from Switzerland into Germany, and up to Aachen on the German/Belgium border.  From there it is less than 4 hrs non-stop drive to Calais across Belgium.  By non-stopping, you don't have to quarantine on your return.  It only adds about 2 hrs to the total journey time,  and about 120 miles to the overall distance.i

Mergozzo is a beautiful place.

Have given up hope of getting to Italy this year.

Will keep you updated on changes.

(The Aachen route only adds 120 miles/2hrs to the trip back according to Via Michelin)

Has another look at the map.

If you drive through Germany as far as Aachan, you only have a 3.5 hour trip (about 210 miles) across France to Calais.  A pretty easy non-stop trip.

If you drive through Switzerland (Gotthard tunnel) and into Germany (my Lorrach route) and up through Germany to Strasbourg, you could fill up with petrol and food in Germany just before entering France near Strasbourg.  In theory, you could drive non stop through France to Calais  and avoid the quarantine requirements. ( but no toilet stops).

380 miles approx - 6 hrs on motorway?

Good luck

From 0400hrs Saturday, France and Netherlands join Luxembourg and Belgium etc on the Quarantine List.   Hope you're back in the UK before then

France and Netherlands on list of Quarantine countries from 0400 hrs BST Saturday

Plus Netherlands and others - so if you drive back from Italy, 14 days quarantine on your entry into UK from 0400 hrs BST Saturday.
