ITALIAN GENEALOGY

Cancelling a Eurotunnel Booking

I have had to cancel a return trip on Eurotunnel [Car + 2 + Dog], as I have to go into hospital for an op.

The booking was 'non-refundable'.

IMU - Its still around

I thought this had disappeared in the new tax system, but my Comune website says the first payment for 2014 is due by 16th June

Looks like the days of the easy/cheap trip to italy through Switzerland are numbered.

Apparently, the Swiss government has decided to raise the cost of the vignette to 100 Swiss Francs for 2015.

Petrol prices in France are now comparable with the UK, except on the French Autoroutes.

For a change this year we drove down to Italy via Besancon  [avoiding most tolls by taking some good french non-motorways.]

Can you help?
I've just completed making a 'variation' of Limoncello.

In today's Guardian

Ryanair have announced their credit card will now be liable to the same charges as other credit cards - so the end of no charge bookings

If you google "Italy calculate IMU" there is a fair amount of useful advice.

Yet another poster who posts an innocuous post (usually on an old post) and some time later adds a hidden link to a website.

Link now removed - why not just delete the post  ( and mine?)

Probably worth a day on Capri - lots of boats from Positano.  Also Amalfi and Sorrento are also worth a look.  (By boat or, I think, scheduled bus services)

It really is an open ended question.  Price will be affected by factors such as size of roof, ease of access, type of 'sealing' required etc etc.

I'd suggest you seek a couple (at least) of estimates from local tradesmen,  and ask around for any recommendations.

Easiest way would by taxi - but expensive!  There are executive transfer services available online.

You can go by train - the following website sells tickets, but has some useful info on trains.

There are buses that do the trip.

Our Italian estate agent recommended an English speaking Geometra.

Worth noting - anyone under about 35 speaks some English (Even when they say they don't) - they learn it at school from an early age.
