The city of Lucca has always been my favourite. Not only because it is only 25 minutes away from our home and I go there at least two or three times a week, but also because you do not feel like a "tourist" there.

Some members may have noticed that I have been fairly quiet for the past month and a half. The reason for this was that we have been visiting our daughters who live in San Francisco (CA).

A lot has been written about the dangers of overheating Teflon coated cookware. Toxic fumes can be extremely dangerous for our health. Personally, I have never liked that type of cookware and I do not buy it anymore.

In another thread, we were discussing Tuscan herbs and "funghi porcini". Tuscany is a paradise for herb lovers and many varieties, such as rosemary, sage and "nipitella" grow wild.

You are doing a great job, Badger. I must say that it is not easy to raise a leveret or a young rabbit. ONe of our daughters has been a volunteer at "Save a Bunny! for quite a while and babies are difficult to raise. You will find plenty of information and help on the Internet. On the other hand, keep in mind that it will be practically impossible to release it into the wild, as raising it by hand and getting it used to human contact will change it into a domestic animal. It would not last one hour into the wild.  In any case, you are doing a wonderful thing and I wish you, and the leveret, lots of luck. Please keep us posted.

Local shops that sell domestic appliances should also be able to offer them or point you in the right direction. They also install them.

When we purchased our property, it had central heating, water heater and gas cooker all conected to gas bottles. I hated it! We quickly converted to mains gas and it is most convenient and safe. It is cheaper too. We had to pay for the conversion, but we consider it worthwhile. We also improved insulation to make the place more energy efficient.

Gothic revival in America followe similar movements in Europe and lasted longer than in the continent It was not restricted to the reproduction of antique pieces, but it also included fantasy based elements. This piece is an example, as it adds neo-classical elements (sphynx). To like it or not... is a matter of personal taste. There are quite a few collectors of this style in America.A google search using the words "gothic revival furniture" will give plenty of information.
