After an abscence I am back with a query. Last summer in the UK I grew two varieties of Courgettes, Tondo and Fiorentina, because of the glut I decided to preserve them in OLive Oil.
Jus to say hello, I was on the previous forum but as Robert, because of a previous mistake by me setting up the old account. Still based in UK but Umbria is still the target!!
That's the one Gala, very tasty it was too. When sliced thinly and put on top of a roasting joint it gave a great taste and the gravy was heavenly. Today I picked my first redcurrants of the season and they are to be made into Jelly tonight!!!!
I don't have a recipe for what Im about to suggest but some places produce a Lonzino (?) di Fico. I bought one in Ancona once, apparently aroun d since Roman times. It looks like a fig sausage that you can slice. It was very tasty and I used to put it on meat when I roasted it. Sorry I know no more than that.
Lake Trasimeno is a wonderful part of Italy and is our choice of a place to buy a place in. Am still sorting things out at this end but I a very jealous of anyone who is fortunate to live around the lake.
I agree Gala. I was once atacked by a tick in BHutan on a trek and discovered a tick burrowing into me at 230am in my tent. The application of a pair of tweezers pulled the tick to pieces followed by some antibiotic straight away. Washing the area with some whisky then taking the whisky internally. I was left with an infection that took a couple of days to clear up. A very strange sensation to see te rear legs of an animal digging into me!
I visited the Arezzo Antique Market about 18 months ago. It was fascinating, spreading over the main piazza and many surrounding streets. Everything was being sold from antiques to kitsch to ex kitchen cabinets to Murano chandeliers. Leave plenty of time to browse and enjoy
Think about using a debit card. You buy your funds electronically in the UK and that is converted to Euros, you then have debit card containing euros so no charges.
Whilst I have found the new system a challenge, I had only just got used to the old one being a relatively new member of the old forum before it changed, I think that the value of the forum outweighs the problems and I am going to persist hoping that things will improve as my knowledge expands. If I'm not prepared to stick wiht this the how I am going to cope with buying a a property in Italy!!!!

Thanks for the photos - I visited Castelluccio last autumn and was entranced. Can't wait for the oportunity to see all the flowers in bloom.
