It's really bad and seem's to be going ahead, we in this area are constantly petitoning and fighting this, But hey! you know what these multi nationals are like, they always want to win.
You could probably find work in private schools, but the sort of contract they give you is say only for 4 months at a time and then if they want to they renew it. This way you dont get paid holiday or sick pay, at the end of the contract there is a little extra added on towards these things.I once worked in a high school on a short contract the money was good, but we started the job in November and finished it at Easter and received our pay check in June, but nothing unusual in that.
Have you heard of the Parma project? I know very little about it only what I saw on a documentary (some years ago) here in Italy about some pre schools in Parma . I remember thinking at the time what great schools they seemed to be.
Does it have a water connection and electricity if not how far are they from the property, all of these things take value off it. A place such as this is less likely to be bought by Italians so the market is narrowed down. Make an offer and see if they accept . But also make sure the road is easily accesed for your delivery's and builders. I heard of one house where the builders refused to go the road to it was so bad, also ENEL wouldn't go down it to get a power supply in.
mechanics along with plumbers are one of the few area where its possible to find work, especially in the south.Does your husband speak Italian? if he does then it shouldnt be to difficult for him to find work.
I understand exactly where they are coming from, these small rural "paese" aren't for everyone, I f you like it then fine.Either way the experience I'm sure was great and they came out doing ok , and by the sound of it have helped others with the co-op they formed.
