Hi and welcome. I'm sure you'll have plenty more Qs, we still do after 5 years. Thinking like the Brit, we used a Solicitor initially in 2005,  for the 'promissory note' and with hindsight it was a waste of  €600.00 + IVA. Now we use our bank's notaio and there's never been a problem, thus far. It's your choice, at the end of the day. Regards. #1 PS: BTW, Please don't compare the Solicitors rates in the UK with the ones you'd have to pay in Italia and you won't be disappointed.

Hi Alan & Allan. Your assumptions are absolutely correct, I couln't agree more. I could say a lot more, but then the Admin may get involved. We were originally planning on taking a state-of-the-art German STP from the UK but decided against such a 'daft brit' idea. We have found an Italian company called Oppo. (www.oppo.it) and as you have suggested, we're going to ask them to try and sell the concept  to our geometra. Good luck to them, I'd say. #1

When I read Badgers first reply to the post, I thought to myself "what's he taking about".  Now, having read the other replies, I think I owe an apology to Badger.... :( Gosh, it's been an eye-opener, didn't ever think the costs would be that ridiculously high. At least now I know what to expect when we finish renovating our place, hopefully by summer this year. Its 4 bedrooms and  3.5 bathrooms, total 250sqm. It's back to the drawing board to have a rethink about using alternative systems like  combo solar panels & geothermal heat source. We've been advised by our builders we should consider using cork linning on the internal perimeter walls in the older sections of the house before plastering/skimming. Has anyone used this method of insulation and has it made any difference to the heating costs? Thanks. #1

Hi all. You may be interested in the following which I've copy-pasted from an e-mail received from ENEL. On Monday February 8th the first Sustainability Day will take place, aimed at promoting a culture of responsibility through a global discussion with top international sustainability experts. You will be able to follow the event in real time on the enelsustainabilityday.com website (from 09.00 am GMT+1). On the same website you may also take part to the debate using our on-line service or participating in our extended twitter conversations. Thank you for your attention, we look forward to your visiting our website. Hope it's useful. #1

Hi CB, thank you.We were equally amazed last week when we over in Loreto sorting out quotes for the next phase of our renovations,Two electricans told us the same thing. Apparently its a new regulation, but if someone can shed more light on this and prove this to be incorrect, I wold be only too pleased. We could really do with 11kw which would give us  around 45 amps. Also there is no storage of supply lines, in fact a mini pylon actually runs though our land. The 6.5kw-6.6kw: this I believe is the "surge" that one gets every now & then, but again we are informed that this should not be relied upon. True/false?As they say, its never too late to learn, so any more responses will be appreciated.BTW, I have no intentions of "cyberjacking" Ali's thread. Many thanks.#1

Hi Ali.As BUNTERBOY says, its just not cost-effective for a holiday home. I would go one step further and say that it's not cost effective even if you live in Italy permanently.1 kw will just about run your PC, TV  and other electronic machines. Forget using an electric kettle for a nice cup of tea.At the moment we've got a 3kw supply from Enel and as we are still in the UK, the consumption is zero, obviously. We've decided to apply to Enel to increase the supply to 6kw (5.9kw to be precise) which will give us about 25 amps. We understand that anything above 6kw requires planning permission and may still not be granted. The costs will be more but no way near to the ridiculous costs of a photovoltaic panel.I know we all should try and do our bit for the environment however one has to draw the line sometimes.#1

I hope Ronald will have a look at this and I'm sure he'll sort it out, if there is something to sort out.Maybe its the hot spell in UK at the momemt but I've noticed that everytime we enter something in the 'Subject' field, it gives the impression of a new thread.#1
