Found this that may help http://www.posteitaliane.it/postali/prioritaria/tariffe_estero.shtml Looks like you may be able to send your parcel for about €7 - that is if I have not missed anything in the small print. U.K. seems to be in zone 1. Hope it works out.

Hi Penny,The season on the coast here is quite short but most have only closed this last weekend and inland things are notdependent on the summer season.Although we gave Nicy and Adam lots of info on the area -the festas - which bars and restaurants were open - both on the coast and in Ripatransone and the surrounding area (even checked for them that the Beach Bars in Cupra Marittima were open)  -gave them directions to local cantine etc. they did not spend much time out of the apartment. We even offered to drive them to a restaurant in the evening but they said they were happy relaxing in the apartment (which was nice to hear) - but seemed a shame for them not to have tried a local restaurant.Maybe they got the impression places were closed as they said they went out late morning and as you probably knowmost things here close between12.30 - 4.30pm. With not going out in the evening the did not get a true picture of the area. As Angie says there is always something happening.

Got my sticker with italian address more than five years ago. This can be done at any `Agenzia Pratiche Auto`Some are more helpful than others - the least helpful was the local ACI office.Just had to renew it. All it took was an appointment with a doctor authorised to do the paperwork - we have one atour local medical centre - a few general health questions and an eye test..One Marca da Bollo for €14.62€9.00 paid into Motorizzazione account at post office.Fee for the medical -€45.00New sticker arrived after a few weeks. No Problems. So no worries Penny - Good luck

Never possible to guarantee the weather as you know butBefore moving over here six years ago we visited in May and October for many years.Always found weather warm and sunny enough to sit on the beach. Maybe some rain but that is what keeps the area green. Some bars on the beach close in September but some are open till the end of October unless theweather is really bad. The locals do tend to put on coats because it is September and not because it is cold. They are now used to us strange English people walking about in short sleeves when the temperature is onlyabout 20 - 23degrees!!Looking forward to meeting your daughter and boyfriend Penny.

Hi Karen,Dont know if it helps but there is a Hertz office in San Benedetto. Not sure of the address but itis on one of the streets near Via Roma - thats the road leading to the railway station. I am sure theyshould be able to arrange for her to collect a car there. The other option is the train to Ancona. The train fares here are quite cheap.Hope it works out.Kath

As far as I understand, in this area the general rule is that you need to rebuild to the same footprint and sameorientation but the interior seems to be up to you. As with all things here it probably changes from Comune to Comuneand with the right Geometra/Architect lots of things are possible. There is now also the possibility of adding 20% I believe.Maybe best to speak to the Comune before you buy.Good Luck
