I seem to be registered as a new member - but have posted a couple of times in the past. Our house has got to the stage when I can update our progress and show some before and afters. The new style forum is certainly different, but no doubt I wi
Kensington2, We had been muttering darkly about "English" garden tools for years. However, when we were over in April we succumbed to an Italian spade, long handled, thin blade - and it cut through our soil like butter!! The long handle meant we weren't bending down to work and the momentum was great. the same goes for shovels - you can get a good, long throw when shifting soil. Our land is above Bagni di Lucca - so just about Tuscany. I think it is a case of "when in Rome". Have fun - I am guessing it is all rock hard at the moment anyway. Regards from Fabbriche
Sorry Bunterboy, I meant to do this sooner. We used Torfx and they were great. Let them know that you recommended them and they might give you a cornish pasty, or something! Regards Fabbriche
Wherabouts in Lunigiana are you? Also, what is the length of the caravan? We have just about finished our build but just might be interested - although I haven't asked Mr Fabbriche yet! Did you self build - or were you checking progress? Regards Fabbriche
HI Lingpupa Have you tried the Grapevine magazine - it seems to circulate in the Lucca area and is aimed at ex.pats. Might not be your cup of tea but they do have classfiied ads in the back. I am pretty sure they are on line. Also there is the secondhand shop Mercato Usato on the outskirts of Lucca. Tinker knows about it! Again, not sure how it works but worth a try. We wouldn't mind a list of what you need to dispose of as we are about to furnish our house near Bagni. Good luck and enjoy the sun. Fabbriche
HI Smeralda We have had a lot of work done at our place near to Bagni and we use Paganelli's just down the road from you, near to the roundabout. There are also Pieroni down the main road from Borgo toward Lucca. I have to say that we have always bought from these two via our Builders. Apart from anything else they can negotiate the best deal - and of course, speak the language! JanJ, if you are looking to pave outside the house, be sure that you are choosing something that will not offend the local authorities. It depends upon where your house is but we have had to be very careful - with our geometra letting us know what we can and cannot have. (And all this for a little rustico!) We will be over in two weeks time and can't wait to camp out in our house for the first time. Wishing you both a gorgeous hot and lazy summer. Fabbriche
Thanks to, Bunterboy and Stevegw for your input., I have been on to Tor fx. I hadn't realised it was so easy. And thanks to Tinker - we will look in to MercatoUsato on our next trip.
Thanks Jerry Looks like we are using the same people - the loveley Ian?! I know they are not available first week in July but might be going out earlier. Perhaps we can tie up with Saffie. Thanks again. P.S. Will post a photo of the house next time we are over.
Saffie We have used Euromanandvan in the past but they are not available in the first week of July. Might have some dates earlier. If not, do you have anyone else in mind? Will pm you. Fabbriche
