Well................Having now persevered and lost track of threads/posts etc mainly because I do a few other things and then come back here...........connect up and see EIGHT pages of new messages.....................I cannot possibly keep up....
I'm sorry (Ronald......or whoever else is involved!)..Having made a living from IT for THIRTY years and believing to possess a fair understanding of technology and how to deliver systems.................I would have absolutely ha
Is there somewhere or something hidden in the bowels of Italmag where I could find what the rules are on medical expenses as in being charged for a check up...............we are residents and I am 60 years young, we are 'allegedly' to pay IF we ha
I have to go for blood tests and the doctor was asking what my income is (I am 60yrs young), if it is OVER 10,000euros I have to pay..........(I don't have any income as such in ITALY), I do have a pension paid in the UK (over 10,000euros) through
I have to say that I am very saddened to hear of this, I actually think that it is not a true representation of all that is Italian. In reality, the people in and around the village that we live are probably the friendliest people we have had the pleasure of living with. Having said that, we were quoted 18,000 euros for the conveyancing on the property that we bought by a lovely chap in Amandola, although he did say that he was 'very good' (!!!!!!!)........... I replied using a two word english expression, the second word being 'off' (mi scusa). But,............... whilst hindsight is great, this is indeed a sad tale............ Good luck, S
Well,............ I fear the worst here; in any other country what would you do ? Get your contract, go to the police, get yourself a good solicitor and prepare for a lengthy court case !! A sad tale ....... S
Well,................... when it rains, it RAINS, when it snows, it SNOWS, when it is windy, it is WINDY, when it is hot, it is HOT.................and so on. We have 'proper' seasons here (which personally I prefer), some of the rains in the last few years though have been very significant, but it is wonderful here pretty much all of time ! S
I have to say, this is the first time that you have 'suffered' since I have been around 3+ years! Things MUST have been bad! I have just been sitting in the sun by the side of the pool have a glass of bubbles and considering what we should do in preparation for 'next time'. I think it is difficult to decide, we could JUST get out of our track, we had an old phone that worked, we had a range of 'mickey mouse' candles, we had loads of logs for our stufe, food, water, beer, wine for weeks. BUT my gawd........we missed electricity. S
Hmmmm...........I may be confused....(the Tom Jones effect - 'it's not unusual' !!). A friend of mine has just installed a very big pellet boiler that heats water and the radiators (basically it's a huge black box about 1.5mtr high and one mtr square with a built in hopper at the top). It doesn't seem outrageously noisy and he reckons he uses a bag of pellets (circa E3.50 each), all in all seems good?'
Nice one bunterboy ...ho ho ! I tend to agree if this is possible? Now .............Lorraine, your thinking in terms of age is pretty much spot on. BUT, for what are considered 'serious/life threatening' ailments (Asthma being one) you would get these medications free (I believe), other non serious ailments you would pay for. A friend of mine (same age-ish as yourself) takes statins for instance and they are not charged for them. There is a list somewhere (I think it's been on this forum but lordie knows where), which outlines the 'rules'. These rules can then be interpreted very differently across the various healthcare regions. You'll survive !! S
Yessssss..................It is probably the one thing that concerned me, but then the old loggia stores wood? The noise doesn't seem TOO bad, and I suppose I'd have one in a (say) uility room? S
This is quite a toughie to respond to, we pay less (in total) for all our 'standard living costs' here than we did back in the UK. House here is smaller though! We have not tried the pellet stoves but they seem very efficient, and clean? reletive to (say) wood. S
