I've just moved to Carassai and until I get a landline I am having to use a dongle to get online. Reception is awful, no 3G just weak GPRS - very slow, not strong enough for SKYPE or BBC iplayer for radio.
I'll be buying a little Yaris at the end of June and am looking to get car insurance. Tried Italsure and was horrified to find it over 1200 + euros - 5 x more than I pay now.
Pleased that this has come up as help on this subject is really appreciated. I have what might be a simple problem or turn into a nightmare! I have retired to Italy and have no property other than my home here. I have only one daughter and intend all I have to go to her on my death. I have a will prepared in England stating this but understand I need one in Italian which will have to be lodged with a notary etc on my death. Do I have to do anything else as it is very uncomplicated?
Hi Badger, I think, after some trial and tribulation no doubt due to my computer illiteracy, I have finally succeeded in getting the UK TV channels so wanted to say a very big 'thank you' for bringing this to our notice. Makes a big difference and Sky TV redundant! Thanks again, Hazy
Thanks Badger, I've done that but no reply. Is this site for Italian residents or UK residents on holiday? My credit card which is used for paypal has a UK address so shouldn't be a problem if they need that. Will have to cancel the paypal payment if I don't get a reply today, same as I did yesterday! So desperate to get some decent TV!
Having a bit of a problem with this. I've signed up for the Paypal payment of €5/month but not received the password to download the software. Tried yesterday and had to cancel the Paypal as didn't want to pay for something I wasn't getting. Done it again this morning but an hour later still have no mail with the password. Anyone else had this problem or any help with this - would so love to get it organised!
Hi,As someone who is 59 and just moved to Le Marche in June this year I can only agree with all the comments. I had taken slightly early retirement, had in earlier years visited 4 different parts of Italy (Tuscany, Umbria, Venice & the Veneto and Le Marche) , had fallen in love with the country but had to think very carefully about the decision to move. I was living in Scotland and didn't fancy waking up to the rain and grey weather for the rest of my life. I have only a small family to leave behind and in reality I would probably see more of them if they came to visit than via phone calls and occasional meetings etc. I just took the plunge, put my flat on the market and when it eventually sold, drove out here to look for an apartment - did not want a restoration project or to be isolated in the country. I gave a lot of agents my specific requests but beware - a lot of them just ignore what you say and try to sell you places they want to get rid of. I eventually found an agent who actually listened and within 2 days had found my apartment. I won't go into the ins and outs of buying, that can wait until you get here. I was very lucky to find that a couple from the Forum who had helped with my questions actually lived within 15km from me and they have been incredible. The language is important - I am trying the Michel Thomas discs but also looking for a local class too as I need to be pushed! As I'm on my own and getting on, I don't feel comfortable sitting in bars just yet - maybe when I'm somewhat fluent.Good luck to you - send me a personal message if you think I can be of more help.Hazy

I bought an apartment in June and used Axia - you get your own adviser, pay no Italian bank costs - I found them excellent.good luck!
Slight shaking in Carassai about 6.10am - about 80km from Ancona so no probs I think.
have sent you a private message.Best wishes,H
