Hi all, I am trying to get the Ascoli Piceno ASUR13 to clarify the position regarding healthcare rights for permanent residents who are EU citizens. Currently, their ruling is that we may only have registration for 12 months at a time and that thi

My final recommendation for mountain restaurants (at least for the moment) is La Cittadella, again in Montemonaco. A wonderful mountain retreat with a pool with probably the best view in Marche!

Another lovely restaurant in the mountains. For good, hearty mountain food this is really excellent. We ate some of the best prosciutto I have ever eaten here, followed by cinghiale in Vernaccia with pappardelle - delicious!

I know this was on the old forum but I thought it was worth mentioning again. The restaurant Il Tiglio in Isola San Biagio (just outside Montemonaco) is something very different to the other restaurants in this area.

During my search for a document to take to the anagrafe office to shame the chap into giving me my permanent residency certificate, I found the state decree and subsequent circulars pertaining to the new (2007) residency laws.

Thanks very much for the info. They have some info on their site giving example costs depending on how much gas/electric you use and it would be cheaper for us. The prices are fixed for 2 years. The big question is what happens if you cancel/move house in the 2 years as our house is up for sale. I guess I'll have to give them a ring :-)

Please share Flip as in all my time here I have seen the prices (with a few exceptions) in restaurants go up and up...

I actually think it is Marche that is expensive to eat out. I have eaten in restaurants in Florence for a lot less than Ascoli for a comparable meal. Ditto for cafe's. Doesn;t make sense to me.

Are you sure they are registered as B&B's? Might actually be registered as 'Country House' or some other classification.

The reason is Gala that if I want to take more than €2500 out of my bank account or withdraw it from my UK bank account over the counter here in Italy (even to pay into my Italian banlk account) which I regularly do, it will now automatically get reported to the tax man. I pay all my taxes here as I should but do not want to get investigated because I regularly withdraw more than €2500. The Italian tax man can tell you to pay tax on what he thinks you should have earnt (studio settore and various other methods) and not what you actually earnt so I really do not want to be regularly reported to him. Hence I will now buy items over €2500 directly by credit card outside of Italy so as not to be reported to the taxman. Not paranoid - just sensible!

Sorry Gala but the €2500 cash limit is a bad idea. For example, if i want to buy something that costs more than that I will now buy it abroad and bring it over therefore not spending my money in Italy. Very short-sighted IMHO.

On the Italian news tonight it seems a done deal that Napolitano will ask Mario Monti to head a technical interim government. He has just made him a life senator in order to facilitate that. Seems like the budget may be passed as quickly as Monday. The sticking point seems to be elections and I haven't seen anything concrete about when these would be.

I haven't seen anything in the Italian press saying Mr B is not resigning. Where have you seen that Anne? He said he is not standing in the next elections but is still resigning after the growth budget is passed which they reckon will be in the next couple of weeks.

We had to wait 30 days for the money to credit the owners bank account when I took a mortgage. Very cross he was about it too!
