if you have been paying NI in the UK you do not need private health cover, you can transfer your contributions from the UK to apply here using form S1. Please do a search and you will see I have written lots on this subject before.

I'm guessing from your mention of the 'pink slip' that you have already had your licence recognised in Italy. These expire on a sliding scale of years depedning upon age and and you will have to have a medical (more complex as you get older) to renew it. As qui gia' points out you do need to get this done. This expiry date is independent of the expiry date of either your UK licence or your UK photocard.

You're right RAM. It was this statement on Il Sole 24 that confused me: Contante, si alza la soglia dei pagamenti per cassa (articolo 12). Dolcevita - It is the 'rendita catastale' from the visura for your property. If your husband will be resident and you won't then you will have to work out your individual 50% liability separately. You will have to pay 7,6 per 1000 and he will pay 4,6 per 1000.

But if your hubbie is resident then it will apply to him even if you bought as a seconda casa as he will be tax resident here and need to complete a tax return here and there is a questions asking if you own property abroad (ie outside Italy).
