I've attempted to search on here with no success. Does anyone have the details of an Italian Lawyer in Umbria specialising in wills. Ideally S/he will also speak English so that nothing is lost in translation. I have previously used and English

Before I start to trawl through past info, are there any former Civil or Public servants who may have moved to Italy with reserved pensions. I'm trying to establish what taxation regime the Italian state would enforce on the traditional tax free
When I first opened my Italian Bank account in 2008 I was surprised to see the charges of 1€ per month plus 8+€ evey quarter. I was told it was interim and eventually the 8+€ ended. Suddenly the 8+€ has returned and seems excessive for what are
The area of Umbria where my place is has very hard water and I'm considering having a softening device added to the water system. I see it as a way of reducing costs and maintenance.
I plan to retire to Italy in 3 - 4 years time and leave the UK permanently. I no longer want to pay any tax to this country (UK) but worry that I may be financially worse off in Italy.
Does anybody know whether Ryanair are running winter schedules from Liverpool to Rome or Pisa. At the moment they end on 30 October and it seems that there is nothing happening beyond that date. I wondered if Mr O'Leary was having a go back at t

I was able to push them away regarding excess as I have annual cover. However, they told me that if I took the car back full I would have to show the receipt from filling up and if it was more than 10km from the airport they would apply a surcharge. They then offered the return with an empty tank @ €1.74 a litre for a 56 litre tank, which on reflection was a resonable rate compared to the prices at the nearest Autostrada garage that happened to be 10.6 km from the rental place. Car hire is a rip off wherever you go but Italy does seem to excel. Generally I book through rental cars (formerly car hire 3000) or Holiday Autos (when they have offers available) and find their rates difficult to beat.
For holiday money I use http://www.thomasexchange.co.uk/ For larger amounts I use http://www.hifx.co.uk/ Thomas exchange do charge insurance for delivery but even allowing for it they still beat all the high street organisations.
Gala I'm not emotinal about Government as they are in reality all the same (certainly in the uk). My anger is towards the HMRC which appears to operate above government, demonstrated by the recent situation where a senior tax officer lied to a commons select committee and is still in his post. I have become frustrated at the way the lower paid are penalised whilst the multi nationals (Goldman Sachs, Vodaphone to name two) get away with absolute murder.
We had a close encounter with one last year when we were returning to our apartment in Ripalvella, it was in the middle of the road on a blind bend and we missed it by inches. Last week we saw another foraging by the roadside and it casually looked up then continued whatever it was doing. On our last day there last week I had to drive down to Marsciano and there was one dead in the road. When I returned it had been moved, now I know they are edible I have to assume someone claimed it as road kill. As for other creatures we have had wild boars jump from the roadside and cross our path (very scary), a very scraggy fox in the borgo and a young deer appearing from a steep ravine next to the apartment and trotting off to the fields next door.
My very poor grasp of Italian suggests "introduce the report of succession" which in turn suggests providing evidence of the inheritance but I could be way off beam and you may need the morning shift to translate. Hope this helps
They appear to have scrapped winter flights to Ciampino from Liverpool. Luckily Jet2.com still have a winter schedule from Manchester so my choice hasn't completely dried up. If that ever ends I'll then revert to driving rather than fly from any London airport.
The Rome flights were still in operation last winter and I was hoping they would carry on this year, so it looks like Jet2 will get the business even though they're dearer.
Hello, I would like to join this group. My wife and I jointly own a property in Umbria and we have recently had new wills drawn up in the UK stating whichever one of us dies first leaves everything to the other partner. In the case of us both going at the same time or the other passing away a short while after, we have a list of beneficiaries (including my children our grandchildren and our siblings) clearly named. In principle the wills are straightforward but reading the information in this group it would appear that we now need to draw up an Italian will. Can anyone give a ball park figure of likely cost based on their personal experience and also recommend a notary who speaks/understands English so our position is clearly represented. I have heard figures of over €400 + taxes etc for wills quoted which seems extremely excessive when compared with the £180 we paid a solicitor to draw up the information for us. Any experiences shared would be of great assistance. Thanks
Thanks for the replies. The ebay one looks the best option, though I will check out both Amazon and Ikea. Thanks again
