Has anyone seen the article in the London Times today (19 Aug) about Basilicata? I don't have a subscription to their site so will need to see if I can track down a print copy.
Karen, If you would like help to get that set-up just send us an email. As I said our friend did this for us and has done it for other properties in PZ. info at mybellabasilicata.com
Karen, Are you having problems with the contractor or with the water service, Acque dotto Lucano (adl)? I know adl was working in August as I saw the area rep in our town several times and we are only about 20 minutes from Grottole. We have a good friend who is a local structural engineer and also has done several home projects who might be able to help you if you aren't getting results. He knows the right people and is a local.
When the government passed the new 10 euro fee for medical services about a month ago it went into effect within a week. When the politicians want more cash they can make it happen very quickly.
Fortunately just about a week ago they re-opened one of the bridges on the Basentana which will make it easier for you to get to Grottole. In bocca al lupo!
Donna, Where are you located and what sun exposure do you have during the day? If you run that much electricity you will have a rather sizeable bill from Enel. If you have any sun exposure then open shutters and drapes during the day will help and closing these at night to retain the heat. It also best to only heat the area you are using, when you are using it, so small heaters that you can place close to you are helpfull. In Italy wool is relatively inexpensive so nothing like a nice wool sweater to fend off the cold.
That is a simple but straightforward video on what to consider in buying a house here. Pictures do speak louder than words! Their site, edurisk.it, also has some good info. I guess that is why I bought a house that is several hundred years old and has endured numerous earthquakes in that time period.
You should have received a form/receipt from the post office when you submitted your documents. Since you have already been to the immagrazione you just need to wait for them to contact you that your documents/card are ready. The receipt from the po has a code you can input into the following site: http://www.poliziadistato.it/articolo/view/10617/ You should have provided the immagrazione with a cell and mail address, they will send you an sms or letter when the card is ready. You might also try stopping by that office after 3 weeks to ask if it ready. Ours was ready after 20 days but our letter arrived later.
Norfolk - Where are you looking in Lucania? Karen - Grottole has a nice view of the Basento, are you in town? I think it would be easier to get to Matera than Irsina from Grottole.
