This morning I read an article about Italy and I was very negatively surprised about what I was reading. The article dealt with a research of differences between South and North Italy and explains why the South is more stupid than the North. Accor
I have a quick question for you and hope you can help.Do you know of any charity organisations or projects in Italy ( more specifically Tuscany) ?I am doing research for a friend and that want to support a charity here in Italy.Thought I might be
During my last trip to Italy I ate the best Lasagne ever... Finally, I decided to experiment with cooking something typical Italian. Well, actually I did not decided yet.
Good morning everybody!I know well that we usually talk about Holidays in Italy here, but a friend of mine would love to go to Dublin by the end of August and asked me som advice about where to go and what to see and do.
Hi to everybody!Have always thought to join the Italy Community. I love this website and all its content. I am sure I will find many others who share this opinion.
Mmmhhh ...Thank you guys for your advice! Mozzarella and ragù sounds very good. Also, I didn't know you can mix bechamel sauce, wow! And I will surely try home-made pasta layers (a granny taught me how to do it and I bought a pasta maker!) Will let you know how it tasted ... :-)
MarcellaThe day you will decide to come over to Sicily, let me know, maybe we can have a delicious lunch together or just eat a granita with brioche :-) I just cannot have enough of this!
Dear Catherine, you are wery welcome and can pose as many questions as you want. I would be very happy to help as best as I can, hopefully! You have to know that you touched my soft spots: I love bothe regiorns you mentioned, Campania and Sicily and would recommend anybody to visit both. However, let me tell you something about Sicily. I myself are quite familiar with the southeast of Sicily (Ragusa and Siracusa Province) and think it is indeed an ideal place to stay when you are searching for both beautiful seaside and culture. Within a radius of few kilometres, you will find beautiful golden sandy beaches with the clearest water I have ever seen (in Pozzallo, Marina di Modica or the wildlike reserve for example). And at the same time you have the chance to visit cities with some of the most beautiful architecture in Sicily, in the Sicilian Baroque style, which is part of Italian Unesco Heritage Sites. Places like Modica (by the way my favourite city in the Hyblaen Area), Ragusa Ibla and Noto are worth visiting and Siracusa is not too far, with its Greek Theatre and Ortigia, Siracusa's isle within the city.I hope I could help you with this. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any other questions.Have a nice day :-)Monica
Hi Browndog and welcome to the Italy community. I really do not know what you need to to if you want to buy a second hand car in Italy, but for sure you won't need to be resident. some of my cousins are German and when they decided to buy a house in Sicily, they also bought a second hand car for the few months they would be staying in Italy. They did not have residence at all and managed to do everything down there. I mean, as long as you pay insurance, you won't have problems. Otherwise, just buy the car in Dublin (with insurance paying in your hometown) and take it to Italy - nothing easier than that! Foreign Numberplate is no problem as long as you won't be Italian Resident.
:-) Yes Nigelgh, I love un posto al sole as well. I am addicted to television every evening when I come back home from work and jogging. Also, I met some of the (old) actors when I lived in Naples, as I went to University not far away from where they used to set - they were always very kind to all spectators. Do you watch also the summer version which began a couple of weeks ago?
Gerbillo, you hit it on the nail....every single person I talk to about Berlusconi says he/she did not vote for him. So who voted for him? The Aliens? Is this the reason they have been seen in apulia in the last couple of weeks?

Thank you very much for the nice welcome. Actually I live in Sicily, but used to live in Naples a couple of years ago. Simply love both!
