Good Day everyone! Does anyone know if Bagni is still around? Sent him a message and he has not responded. Didn't know if he left for Paestum and has not come back? If anyone knows please let me know. Grazie!
Hello Everyone,Looking for input concerning Salerno. Considering communities in Southern Italy to relocate to. I live in the US and will be taking early retirement in a year or so. I must live in Italy for a time and the southern weather is att
I have spent the last two Junes (2009 & 2010) all over Italy. From Salerno to Venice to Tuscany. The ONLY time I felt a twinge uncomfortable was in Pisa at the train station and Naples was a bit edgy. Aside from Pisa and Naples, Italy treated me fabulous! I witnessed many teenage encounters with older folks and I was delighted with what I saw. As for young people, there was one little boy in Salerno that called my niece some dirty names just because she wouldn't give him some change to make a phone call. That is really nothing as to what I see daily in the US. I believe it all goes back to the family ties and upbringing.
You certainly started a good one here! Bidets have always been a mystery to me and most of my friends. And I promise I have sparkling clean parts! It's funny to think that a bidet is the only way to "come clean". This has been a very entertaining and enlightening thread! Leslie
No problem with the spelling! I only understand and speak a little Italian. I listen to cd's every chance I get but I have no one here to talk with. I do plan to enroll in a school as soon as I get set up. I love listening to the language. It is one of the draws for me. Do you speak?
Ah you do add interest with your tag! Was it the candleholder in the library? Ha, I don't live in Italy yet but plan to. I'm on the west side of the US. Spent a wonderful month in the Garfagnana area last June and plan this coming June to go much further south. Looking to find a spot to settle on indefinitely, in warm (temp wise) Italian surrounds. Love all things Italian!
I was speechless. Watching, smelling and listening. It was a wonderful experience and I tried to catch as many markets as I could. Hopefully the photo will come through. Was take this last June when I was lucky enough to spend the month in the Garfagnana area. Hummm tried several attempts at downloading my favorite market photo....needless to say I was unsuccessful! ps to Adriatica - the majority of stalls in the Garfagnana area were Italian operated with Italian product. I was so tickled to get home with all types of items bearing tags "made in Italy"!
Maralyn, thank you for your words. I love hearing about different areas in the South. It is so good to hear of the clean clear air. That is one of the benefits of where I am right now. We have crystal clear air here. The town in this valley do not allow bright lights at night for the "night sky ordinance". The millions of stars are breath taking especially in the clear air. Elevation is 1600 m aprox. if I calculate correct. But clear air and no snow sounds marvelous. Thank you again and I will put Cassino on my list to explore! B-)
Thanks Bagni! Yes I suspected a little rivalry going on with regards to North and South. Thanks for the feedback. I know I could deal with rain but soooo very tired of shoveling 6 inches of snow every couple of days. And the snow boots and the down jackets and gloves.....The older I get the more difficult to do. Umbrellas are so much easier!

Ok Andrew - love that tenacity, let's have another one of your jokes! You might get a giggle or chuckle out of them yet.
I'll take one too, or maybe even two!

Valentina, Keep us posted for the new travel diary section and I will put in my two cents for the Garfagnana/Tuscany/Castelnuovo/Pieve Fosciana area.
