Thanks, much appreciated. regards
Thanks Andiamo. I have downloaded the link and it all seems clear enough.
We have been living in Italy as residents for just over three years now and with the advent of the IVIE tax we are seriously considering giving up residency. Apart from a small discount on the electricty bill I can't see any other advantage. We can easily spend the required number of days outside of Italy and just visit in the spring and summer. We can leave the house locked up and spend the rest of the time in other parts of the world. Am I the only person considering this option?
I have had a thought do we pay per person as shown on the deeds or is the IMU per property? Comments please. Thanks
We have just returned from the post office having just paid the IMU. And thanks to all those people that posted helpful advice. Just to let everyone know what we did just in case there is someone out there still struggling with the problem. We started with the web site www.amministrazionicomunali.it/imu/calcolo_imu_22.php . In order to complete the form on line you will need at hand your deeds, in there you should have the Visura per immobile. there will be one for the Catasto Fabbricati and one at least for the Catasto terreni. These documents tell you what the Rendita value is. But if like us you bought the property a long time ago you will need to check what the current Rendita is. To do this go to the bottom of the page and log on to the Agenzia del Territorio you will then be able to complete this using the figures on the original Visura's. Don't forget to type in the Codice Catastale Comune to do this. Once this is completed with the revised figures click on the Aggiungi Immobile and you can then fill in the information required including your banks IBAN number. All that is left is to decide whether you want to pay in two or three instalments. Click on the one you want and print off the forms, we did the Stampa F24 which is three pages sign all three and take along to your bank or post office.
We have just experienced our longest tremor it lasted at least 10 seconds which doesn't sound long but believe me it seemed to go on forever! The water in the pool is still moving! We live about 20k south of Picenza.
I worked as a structural engineer in the UK for over 40 years and I am still suprised how badly Italian houses (new ones) are constructed. The old stone ones have similar problems but they are old!! The building regs do not appear to require a DPC, hence problems with rising damp. There is no understanding of how cold bridges work and the problems that they will cause. Damp and mould. As far as insulation is concerned be careful about fitting insulation to the walls inside or out, if calculations have not been considered the dew point could be in the wrong location and dampness can occur on the walls. Seek the advice of a good H&V engineer.
Many thanks Getsett, what would we do without the Italy mag Community. I will now spend most of Saturday filling it in. Once again thanks.
I have tried (on-line) to obtain the English version this pm but to no avail. Does anyone know when it will be available?
I completely agree with Gala it is down to personal choice and what one is used to. So please stay away from Emilia-Romagna, we love the place and we would hate to see it overrun with tourists like some of the places in the south. I am joking about staying away but not about the tourists!
