We have just received our new tessere and they are now micro chipped. There is an accompanying letter that days we have to take it to the 'appositi sportelli' to have them validated.

I have just received my tessera after a lot of chasing. It is only valid for one year. Is this normal?

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions about how we can deter a very persistent crow from trying to break into our house? This started about a month ago when we noticed strange marks on our glass doors and windows.

Hi Its me again! I do find this forum so useful. As I said in my previous post (is it too much?) we moved into our house in November and we have found it quite an experience so far.

Having moved into our new home in November we are about to renovate the area around the house. The area is part concrete and part rubble/ shale. As we have steep woodlands at the back the area needs good drainage. The area measures 230 m2.

I have been to Lucca on several occasions and love it there. However we did also go up the Garfagnana, and although it is very beautiful we found the valley quite claustrophobic. I think we are going to have a look around Lunigiana and Versilia (my choice) before heading down towards Bolsena.

We're looking basically at Tuscany, but the cheaper areas! Ee are open to ideas. The only problem is, that I feel that if we give ourselves to many options we will never find anything. Italy is such a beautiful country that just about all the regions have their merits.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think we have got to keep our search a bit narrow or we will never find anything! We are looking at Tuscany because I still have lots of family in the region, in Livorno. Not that I want to live there but would like to be within striking distance. Also, one of our main criteria is to be within each reach of an airport as we hope that our children, grandchildren  and friends will come to visit.

I have been to the area around Ancona but not ventured any further. Maybe we should give it a try!

That's handy to know about M&S. It's one of the few things I'll miss!

Thanks for that. I think if you want something enough, you should be prepared to change your way of life. I can't wait for the simpler life myself. Getting out of teaching this summer will be a great start. \then just got to wait for my husband to retire next year and then start looking for a place in Italy!

I know what you mean.  there will always be some people who have bad experiences and try to put you off. The thing is. We want to retire to Italy. If it doesn't work out then we will have to sell up and come back to UK or rent the property and rent somewhere back in UK. If we don't do it we will always wonder 'what if?'
