Are there any recommended property lawyers in Siena province? We are (possibly) looking to make an offer on a unrestored farmhouse near Abbadia San Salvatore in Southern Tuscany.
Well I know this has probably been covered before but this is new to me. Looking at properties in Le Marche and Umbria, many are in very poor condition and I suspect that, to renovate properly and to comply with anti-seismic standards, it's a tric
UK Residence?Thank you Vesparina. Do you know if it matters if you are an Italian resident or not? Can a UK resident for instance get married in Italy as you did. many thanks
ChiusiAlso look at Chiusi. The old town is fascinating with wonderful Etruscan remains and the railway station at Chiusi-Chianciano has regular and fast trains to Florence, Rome, Bologna and siena.
BOLOGNA HISTORIC ARCHITECTi can highly recommend Maurizio Bonfatti. He lives in Bologna but did a superlative and sensitive restroration of an old farmhouse in the val dOrica. His speciality is historic buildings maurizio.bonfatti@gmail.com
FurnitureAlthough it might seem perverse, we found it cheaper to buy all our furniture at local auctions in England and then have a van take it out to the house.Brown furniture fetches almost nothing in the UK (both in London and in the country) and can often be fabulous quality. Do go and sit in on one for a morning and you will see.Italian shops tend either to be unbelievably-priced antique shops or modern stores - there don't seem to be the bric-a-a-brac / brocante stores that you see in the UK or France. It's such a shame to furnish a house wth things from Ikea when there are wonfderful period items that have so much more character.
The Italian HouseI would certainly recommend Francesca Olivieri at The Italian House - English of Itatlian descent and operating around Cortona and Sansepolcro. www.theitalianhouse.com
DENTAL CARE IN ITALYWe used one local dentist who, although speaking little English, was excellent for a chipped tooth. The price was about half what the English cost would have been. So I would certainly encourage you to use a recommended Italian dentist rather than necessarily waiting a return to the UK.
Very interesting. The chase continues! Another way forward might be to see where the artist also painted in 1839 by looking at his other paintings and drawings.. It seems that he was in Messina, Palermo, Naples as well as elsewhere in Italy.
Romantic British ArtistIn my opinion, it's by William Leighton Leitch dating from the late 1830's.From searches, it's the interior of a mosque rather than a church. He travelled and made paintings in Constantinople.
