Castel San Pietro Romano (Lazio)

Castel San Pietro Romano is a village in the Metropolitan City of Rome, Latium. The village has been nominated as one of Italy's most beautiful villages. Perched on the top of Mount Ginestro (763 meters above sea level), 40 km from Rome, the borgo has a long history, which begins in the late Bronze Age (XV-XIV century BC), as evidenced by ceramics recently found in the upper part of the mountain, referring to the first inhabited nucleus. From here in the following centuries the city of Praeneste was founded, the present Palestrina, famous in Roman times for the sanctuary of Fortuna Primigenia.

What others are saying about Lazio

Looking for suggestions on the best (and easiest) way to get from Termini to Civitavecchia.  My sister has some mobility problems and each of us will have a large (checked size) suitcase.

In Rome, I ate at da Enzo, Ristorante Venerina and da Etta. All excellent!!

Hi, I'm looking for some accurate information regarding the bus from Orvieto to Bagnoregio. I've tried the Cotral website, but the search never works for me. I found an typed schedule from a blog, but have no idea if it is still current or accurate.
