Interesting article Derek, I am a confirmed people watcher, and I must say that it does seem that many of the older men here have difficulty in relating to children, till the kids are almost into their teens. But, the children here do seem to be far more mature and polite in their outlook than their English counterparts, there aren't many children around though.

I have noticed that in general there seems also to be a much greater age difference in Italy between partners. Combine this with women having babies later, its not uncommon to see first time fathers well into their forties, I notice the age of parents when dropping the children off at school

never , I would be very worried.

Not uncommon I am led to believe, but not at all what it seems llike to us

Never slept with my mother (except when i was a baby of course) and never heard of anyone else doing that.
Probably there's just a pratical reason.

Perhaps the sensible option is to have less children.

I see what you mean but not every child has to be brought up this way, for every chav child there hopefully is another who will learn another way, i think that the world can be a terrible place but it can be made better by the people in it.

I love my children and would face hell and then some before I let the terrible things you describe happen to them.
Some of us do try;)

I can assure you Relaxed that the last place I would keep my cat was in a bag, he likes to sleep on my bed and snore on my sofa, any cats I have I let out of the bag as soon as is necessary ;)

but never let a cat sleep on a laptop.........:)
