Spanish police on Monday said it was ''possible'' that a body found in a public park in the coastal town of Lloret de Mar is that of a 23-year-old Italian tourist who went missing a week ago.
Federica Squarise, from Padua, had been on holiday with a friend at the Costa Brava resort when she disappeared on July 1 after an evening at a local disco.
Police investigations have so far focussed on close-circuit camera footage from the disco, a ten-minute walk from the park where a woman's naked body was found in an advanced state of decomposition under a layer of branches and leaves.
Investigators said that - like Squarise - the dead woman had a tattoo on her leg.
The Squarise family lawyer said definitive DNA test results were expected on Tuesday morning.
