The success of the first Italy China Career Day is indicative of a growing number of international opportunities for Italian firms in Asia, especially in China. The job fair, which was held yesterday in Milan, aimed to link up Italian companies with potential new employees.
160 new graduates met with 30 Italian companies for individual interviews organized by the Italy-China Foundation and hosted at the Chinese Consulate. The job seekers were second-generation Chinese students from various Italian universities.
With a growing number of Chinese firms based in Italy, and Italian firms looking to expand into China’s market, the job fair highlights the increased need for employees with cross-cultural expertise.
Italy was previously the European country with the least number of Chinese students enrolled in university programs. The past 4 years have shown a 220% increase in Chinese student enrollment, signaling that the first intercultural career fair will probably not be the last.
