Now back on top of the constructors' championship, Ferrari is committed to making the most of the final two races of the Formula 1 season to ensure that Felipe Massa also brings home the drivers' title for the Italian team.
''We now go to Shanghai for the Chinese Grand Prix with the same objective as always: work hard and keep focused to get the best result possible,'' Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali said on Monday.
His determination was echoed by Massa who said ''we need to give it all we've got in these next two races. We have a lot of potential and we need to exploit it to the maximum''.
Ferrari lost the lead in the constructors' championship for the first time since April in Singapore two weeks ago but climbed back on top on Sunday with a third place finish for reigning world champion Kimi Raikkonen, while Massa earned two points with his seventh-place finish and reduced his gap behind standings leader Lewis Hamilton to five points.
Hamilton finished without points in 12th place while his McLaren-Mercedes teammate Heikki Kovalainen dropped out of the Japanese Grand Prix with engine trouble and the British-German team was firmly back in second place.
Looking back at the season, Domenicali observed that ''our car has been very competitive and I think it will be in China as well. These next two races are going to be all or nothing for us''.
There will be a two-week break after the Chinese Grand Prix before the season closes November 2 with the Brazilian Grand Prix on Massa's home turf.
