Sampdoria looked to have got slightly the toughest draw of the three Italians in the group stage of the UEFA Cup here today.
The Genoa side was drawn in Group C against Sevilla, VfB Stuttgart, Partizan Belgrade and Standard Liege.
AC Milan got Heerenveen, Braga, Portsmouth and VfL Wolfsburg, in Group E.
Udinese got Tottenham Hotspur, Spartak Moscow, Dinamo Zagreb and NEC Nijmegen, in Group D.
The group matches are on October 23, November 6, November 27, December 3/4 and December 17/18.
The top three from the eight groups will be joined by the third-placed teams in the Champions League groups for the first two knock-out rounds in February and March.
The quarter-finals are on April 9 and April 16 and the semi-finals on April 30 and May 7.
The final is in Istanbul on May 20.
Last May Zenit St Petersburg won the Cup after a 2-0 victory over Rangers in Manchester.
