Last night at The Voice of Italy, Suor Cristina Scuccia, won her battle singing Cindy Lauper's 80s classic "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun".
Coach J-Ax said he chose this song because he always interpreted it as call for women's equal opportunities. The nuns accompanying Suor Cristina seemed to like his choice as they danced happily throughout her performance.
Suor Cristina, instead, seemed much more tense and worried than when she first auditioned for the show at the end of March. She now carries the weight of international fame with the video of her blind audition going viral on YouTube, reaching a record 30 million visualizations in a week. She appeared to feel the greater weight of responsibility for her role as a contestant within the show: "But we are supposed to reach out to people, so here I am!" she said before getting on stage. Once the music started, however, all the worries disappeared and she conquered the hearts of the audience once more.
The other contestant, Luna, an amazing singer in her own right, was the only one who could battle on fair ground with Suor Cristina, coach J-Ax said. Luna lost the battle with a smile and was rescued by one of the other coaches who took her in his team. Luna said that she will never forget this incredible duet with a nun and will probably tell the story for years to come, even to her grandchildren.
