If you live in Pavia or plan on visiting the town, you had better read up on a new book of rules and bans proposed by city leaders.
The list of prohibited behavior runs 45 pages and has many residents up in arms.
Forget about hanging your clothes out the window, laundry that can be seen from the street has been banned. No more feeding the stray cats in the square, that has been banned as well.
Other prohibited offenses include: walking barefoot through town, running appliances at unapproved hours, hanging home décor that your neighbors find displeasing, feeding pigeons and sunbathing topless.
Residents claim that the bans are far too restrictive, and the opposing political party has pointed out that the city would need to hire new police to enforce the extensive laws.
The mayor argues that the city does not intend for the rules to be persecutory, but be careful where you hang your laundry out to dry or you could be paying a fine in Pavia.
