Italian singer Zucchero is about to begin his North America concert tour that will bring him to more than 40 cities in Canada and the U.S.
The artist, whose career spans four decades, has recently presented his latest album, La Sesión Cubana, in New York, which was released by Manhattan Records on February 18.
La Sesión Cubana combines seven new songs with six newly arranged Zucchero hits (“Baila”, “Un Kilo”, “Così Celeste”, “Cuba Libre”, ”Everybody’s got to learn sometime” and “L’Urlo”).
Describing the album, Zucchero says: “My music, as everybody knows, comes from blues, from soul, from gospel. This project is a trip from New Orleans to Cuba via Mexicali. Latin, Cuban, tex-mex sounds and rhythms melt together dancing. Hasta l’asta siempre.”
As for the tour, Zucchero has chosen to travel from one destination to the next by bus. “The idea amuses me. With such a long tour, for logistics reasons and to keep costs down, we have chosen to travel on a bus, as country singers would do. We'll all be there, the crew and the band. I have carved out a space in the back of the bus with a double bed - well, almost - with a shower and a TV. It will be fun.”
