Bank account closure warning.Although we had notified Unicredit of our changed UK address three times no bank correspondence arrived at our UK home for over 16 months. We were in the bank in Italy this morning to once again  try to get them to change our address. While there we were told that as we had opened our account some years ago we had to sign new forms. We were told that the laws about money laundering had changed and that if we did not sign these new forms before June the bank would close our account. Needless to say we knew nothing of this because no correspondence had arrived at our house for 16 months. However we had been in the bank in person to try to update our address details, withdraw money etc, on various occasions over the past year but at no point did anybody at the bank tell us that we were at risk of our account being closed. I am of course appalled  about this. I am also relieved that this time we were given the forms to sign. Who knows how we would have coped with our bank account being closed, direct debits cut off, money seized by the state...Whether any correspondence comes to our UK address in the future remains to be seen of course. I am writing this in case any other people might be in this same situation without knowing it.
