TARI Tax 2024

Just had my TARI bill for 2024.  I used the PagoPA website to pay it online

I had major problems with it not accepting my payment - it seemed to freeze after the card details were entered.

Travelling back from Lake Orta area in N Italy, we travelled to the Simplon Pass to reach our first overnight stop in Sion.

Imagine our delight to find that a landslide has closed the pass "for the foreseeable future"

We used to use Book Depository to get books for our Italian friends at Christmas.

Book Depository now closed.  Does anyone know of an Italian (or EU) bookshop that will accept orders from the UK and deliver to an Italian address?

I thought about leaving a car at the holiday house for general use.It would have been a UK car - from this and other forum responses, getting an Italian car would have been 'difficult'. [although I did consider getting an Italian to buy, tax and insure a car in Italy]I had considered insurance - I would have used Saga [or similar] for the annual 'use abroad' facilityI'd considered the MOT problem - the car would be new [or nearly new] so wouldn't need an MOT for 3 years, when it would be returned to the UK and replaced - it would be a small/cheap car to keep costs down - something like the Ford Ka that I bought brand new about 18 months ago for under £5kThe downfall of the proposal was what you did with the car when I wasn't there - if I left it at the airport, there were charges and security to consider.  if I left it at the house, I had to pay for transport to and from the airport. All in all - the costs didn't stack up - so I hire

MBK - thanks for the warning - it at least made me aware there probably would be a problem.  As i'd booked the overnight stop already - we still went ahead with the route anyway Both sides of the dual carriageway were 'singled' in places, with contraflow as well.  It wasn't too much of a problem going from Dunkirk, as we were not having to get to a ferry by a set time, and a later arrival at the hotel didn't  really matter [only in lost drinking time!].  But we didn't want to risk missing the ferry on the way back.

I'd avoid the property like the plague - tax dodge, plus charges against it etc etc - run like h*ell
