We are thinking of spending 4 days around the Casoli area to explore towns we might be interested in retiring to. Does anyone have recommendations for a centrally located agriturismo or bed and breakfast that would be a good base?
We have been exploring southern Marche, Basilicata and possibly Abruzzo as places to retire to within the next few years. We have been to the province of Teramo several times but were not overly impressed with the area. We thought that Atri and
I have been trying to paste a question that I have in Microsoft Word but nothing is happening. Has anyone else had this issue and if so, how did you resolve it?

Could we please have the option back to be able to send personal e-mails to other members? In the past, I have used it for private discussions as well as to arrange get-togethers with numerous people whom I have met through the forum.
I have a friend residing about 1/2 hour inland from Fermo who just purchased a new pellet stove in Grottazzolina. He told them he wanted a simple basic stove. He then away his purchase.
As my husband is a veterinarian, we just received this from the USDA and thought this reminder for veterinarians along with these links might be helpful to those travelling abroad with pets from or to the USA:1.
After many trips to southern Marche, and not being able to find a house we liked enough to buy, we stumbled upon an old rustico with about a hectare of land that needs to be demolished and rebuilt.

It does help, thanks very much. The cold and wet is something we are trying to avoid, since we live in New England, USA now. We get tons of snow and are hoping for something more moderate.
Thanks very much for posting the interesting blog and insights into some of Le Marche's villages. Having spent quite some time there, we are still trying to determine the best town to live in full-time when we retire. I see that you have your home in Corinaldo. We haven't visited that area yet but were curious how the weather was there in the winter and how lively the town was off season?
Have you tried looking it up under "Banca Woolwich"? I believe this is owned by Barclay's in Italy. When we were asking about mortgage information some years back, we had gotten information from them.
I don't believe that they ever went through with enabling e-mail again. See "What is Happening with Italy Community Site topic." I tried copying and pasting their various texts from May but it isn't working correctly. If you contact the company they will send you the contents of your e-mail in a zipdrive. They did so for me after I requested it several times.
I, too, have migrated over to the new forum where I have found many of the former members of this site. I highly recommend http://italy.forumotion.com for a friendly welcome and troves of useful information about our favorite country, Italia.
Isn't the private messaging something that we do not have anymore? I have requested that it be reinstated but never received any sort of response.
I couldn't agree more with the past 2 posts. The cost of a new table and the trip involved to procure it, is nothing compared to losing his friendship. You really aren't out any money anyway, as you would have had to purchase one initially if it hadn't been left to you.
While I certainly agree that you need to have the appropriate coverage, you might want to reconsider whether you really want these people as guests.
Ciao Rickardo,I mean private messaging on the website. This is what we used to have before the new format. I was able to send and receive private messages. The members aren't given the e-mail contact information but there was a link on each members information where you could send a private message. One of the other sites I frequent, http://italy.forumotion.com/ has this feature. It is great to be able to interact privately with other members and to discuss things that you may not want to in an open forum. As I stated in my original message, after corresponding with several members in the past, we eventually exchanged contact information and I now have some new friends in Italy that I see when I am over.Neither this site nor Italy forumotion give out e-mails directly to members so your contact information is safe and no one has access to it unless you personally choose to give it to them.Lisa
We have been using Auto Europe (the one based in Maine, USA) for many years and have never had a problem. We usually pick up at Fiucmicino and drop off at the airport in Bologna. In Bolgna, we have always had an early am flight and just dropped off the car and never had any issues with being charged extra, aside from the daily road tax which we were informed about in advance. They have a price match guarantee so when I have found a cheaper price elsewhere, they have confirmed it and then have given me that price or a bit better. I believe they have now changed their policy and I have to have an actual confirmed booking before they will do a price match..They also have a sister company called Kemwel and when they have a cheaper price, I use them and they have the same price guarantee.
