This can give you some more information and confirms what I said about how hardy a Meyer lemon tree is:www.kathyrmiller.com/meyer_lemon_tree.htm

The "Meyer" lemon stands cold climates better than other varieties. So you may be lucky with those and it is always very handy to have a lemon tree in your orchard. Other citrus trees are very much affected by frost; however, check with the local nursery as they are always coming up with new varieties suited to all types of climates. Still, some protection from northerly winds may be preferable.

You are right, Antinello, a cherry tree covered with white blossoms is one of nature's most beautiful sights. And the fruit is delicious. I remember that a few years ago, we were renting a home at Boveglio and the neighbours gave us a box of cherries from the communal trees. They were absolutely superb! Much better than commercial varieties.

May I suggest some cherry trees? They seem to do very well in our area of Northern Tuscany. And they are lovely trees.

Not so sure about books that would cover internal staircases. Taschen is got a very nice pictorial book called "Tuscan style" if you are interested in this particular one; however, Italy publishes excellent magazines with plenty of good ideas. I like "Il Rustico", Casaviva, Ville Giardini ... but I think that you would be interested in the monographic magazines published by DiBaiowww.dibaio.comin particular "Scale e Soppalchi Nº 20" which specifically deals with internal staircases and lofts.Good luck with your projects!

Thank you, Alma. Most interesting. A very good translation that deserved a prize. I particularly liked the comments from the translator as they explain many of the difficulties encountered in the process and how he solved them. Translating poems is one of the most complicated processes that you can imagine. To be able to convey the full meaning you need to be not only an excellent translator, but also a poet.
