A fairly comprehensive list of words related to food and wine has been prepared by a few of us. It still needs revision, corrections, additions and you may be able to help as it is a Wiki.

It is official, the old Casino in Bagni di Lucca is reopening its doors after many years; however, it is going to be a modern version, more "little Las Vegas" style than its elegant and exclusive predecessor.

A few weeks ago I started a thread in the old forum about this topic. I still think that it would be great if we could all share our favourite recipes which our families and friends enjoy.

It is most important, if you own a property, to have a clear description for it. That is possible through the "visura catastale" which gives you and confirms many facts regarding your title.

Polenta is one of those Italian dishes that you either love or hate. Considered in the past as the poor people's staple diet it is nowadays served in the best restaurants.

I would advise you to contact language schools that teach English in Italy as most of them will offer Business English and related courses.

I'm ordering the book! I know the area, as a few years ago, when we first decided to buy a house in Italy, we stayed for a few days at Arma di Taggia and we inspected some inland properties. A beautiful area, although I found it a bit isolated and we decided to look further south in Tuscany. I still remember those narrow paths and that the area was mainly inhabited by elderly people. their stories about a feudal society must be fascinating.

Fillide, please don't go away. As Angie says, take a break and when you feel like it, come back. Your contribution is too valuable. I must admit that I am also getting a bit disappointed with the forum. And I have also experienced quite a few "technical" problems, difficult to explain. As far as I know, there are no moderators around. I guess that Admin has decided not to intervene and there has been occasions when a more active attitude would have been welcome. In my case, I have decided to relax, read whatever I want to read and ignore the rest. If I feel that I can make some contribution or encourage someone,  I write. I don't argue, I don't worry anymore. It must be old age and its wisdom creeping. As I said before, please stay, Fillide.

It depends on the comune. You may be able to get an idea looking at google.it and doing a search using those words followed by the name of the Comune.

Perhaps there is a misunderstanding and he is subcontracting those reports himself? If they are a formal requirement, a geometra cannot replace a geologist or an structural engineer. A nurse cannot sign a medical certificate. As simple as that.

A bit of further advice. Look at holiday rentals, featuring apartments and houses. We prefer doing that rather than going to hotels. A place with a kitchenette will save you lots of money and some days you do not feel like going out for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Also, for accommodation in Rome, some of the old convents are nowadays operating their own B&B and the nuns will be delighted to welcome a couple celebrating 50 years together! Their prices are also very reasonable. A google search on those topics will give you plenty of answers. Best wishes!

There are some interesting courses run by "Sapori e Sapere" in Tuscany. Heather Jarman has a blog on "slow tourism". Just do a google search. Welcome to the Community.
