Did anyone just feel that earth tremor at 11pm. Here near Amandola it was very strong but short, the first we have felt for a while. Hope this does not mean there is worse to come.

Had a great meal in Da Cicco in Gualdo last night. Although it was 10pm when we arrived, Michelle the lovely waitress was very helpful and friendly (she is Romanian) and spoke very good Italian and English.

The Marche Chapter are holding a BBQ to raise funds for the victims of the L'Aquila earthquake on Sunday 21st June, hosted by Sarah and Mark at their home Villa Conti (please pm Sarah for directions) from 3pm.

More raffle prizes! - Sarah who works at Cicerone, the publishers of the walking book we found, has very kindly donated a copy for our  BBQ. Anyone else collected any prizes - we need as many as possible!

Looks like the general opinion is that the top up card is the way to go - thanks everyone - I will be off to the Post Office to find out more about getting on in the morning.

Yes only playing as we got excited when we saw we could upload photos and that was the first pic we came across. Will have a look later for some more 'rougher lions' to suit us better, David!

Thank you everyone for your advice so far. We don't have a bank account in Italy as the fees are way too high, but we have a Banco Posta account (only €39 per year fees) which only has a Maestro card attached to it. This can't be used with Paypal unfortunately. Elicat, will have a look at Barclays, thanks for the info and will definitely find out about the top-up card option - thanks Bill for the link.

Anne - we went to the Smerillo Festa the following week as well and there were some delicious cakes there too - all filled (in many different ways) with chestnut. Looking forward to this years Autumn Festivals.
