Can anyone recommend a hotel in Milan which is handy for the main station, ideally somewhere small and interesting, rooms around £100 a night? Thanks Am

I gather there is an Italian ATC strike today between 1200 and 1600 which has stuffed a lot of flights - does anyone know if more of these are planned and if likely dates are posted anywhere? Thanks Am

We're thinking of visiting the Frassassi caves when we're over for half term soon. Has anyone on here been?

I think there are now Ryanair flights from Venice Treviso to Marseilles - can you get a flight or train up to Venice then its a quick bus to Treviso? Might involve a night in Venice but there are some real hotel bargains right now and a night in Venice is never a bad thing... Am

Many thanks for all words of wisdom - Penny is TR Gomme the one that Badger is talking about on the industrial estate in Comunanza? I will check out online prices before we go and chat to them so I know what we could get em for. Thanks for that tip sagriasolar. Great news re not needing new wheels too. I love him going to help a lady in distress in Montemonaco - thats my kinda garage! I will get chains as well but think would be much happier with snow tyres on the car anyway rather than just relying on chains, I find em dead fiddly to fit and round here good grip is pretty essential I suspect all winter not just when a big snow dump hits and the chains are the only way out. cheers guys   Am x

Ooh, we're very close to you (between Penna and MSM) and the idea of some muffins, crumpets, jordans cereals and smokey back bacon is very appealing, just worried that making it worth your while would prob make it not worth our while, these would be proper treats rather than exactly essentials. Can you poss pm me and say what you would be looking for as repayment? Cheers  Am

Not sure who we met today, he certainly wasnt speaking English but was very helpful in pointing us in the right direction and we're picking up our new stufa glass from Trobbiani e Giannini just outside Comunanza tomorrow. Yay. Seems to be a huge glazier place who can do pretty much anything if anyone else needs glass of any kind. Cheers   Am

Just to say we made it here on Monday night and have got connected today so back in touch with the world. Yay. Cat made it too, stayed in hotel room with us in Dijon - stayed at a place called  'Hotel l'Escargotière Dijon Sud - Chenove' in the end - nice private bathroom, free net access, secure garage (we had bikes on the back of the car), arrived too late for dinner just after 10pm, shame had snails on my mind but prob best for not having evil garlicy breath the next day, good buffet breakfast included for 65€, v pleasant staff, rock hard huge pillows but otherwise fine if in quite a weird swimming pool pump type part of town as I gather most cheap and cheerful hotels tend to be. Made it to the house in southern Marche with an 11 hr drive from Dijon. Milan ring rd quite interesting - glad I'm used to v busy motorways but wow - how agressive are those big mercs and audis? Re cat if you are sure your cat is never going to return to UK I would also consider saving yourself a few hundred quid and not doing the pet passport thing - I thought it was obligitary but seems not, we were never asked for any docs for puss. He's settling in fine, not let him discover the big outdoors yet but he is now master of the sofas at least. Ta for all advice, hope feedback useful. Am
