Hello,I am driving from the UK to Rome in August - probably through Dover-Calais.Which route to people recommend? The shortest appears to be through France which I assume is the way the SatNav would take me?

If I were to move to Italy but continue to run my business in the UK I assume that I would pay UK income tax (as a sole trader)? Would I also have to pay any income tax in Italy assuming that Italian income taxes are higher at the moment?

Thanks Penny, I do not believe that I will have to pay tax on the same income twice. Are you suggesting that I would not have to pay tax in the UK?
Thank you Sebastiano - your feedback is much appreciated. With regards to the capital gains tax I thought the same as you - 5 years from purchase. I have fallen into the reverse of a loop hole - if you renovate the property it is the date the renovation work is officially finished! It is not a huge problem because there is not a huge profit.
Thank you Andiamo - your feedback is much appreciated. We would be moving to Latina area. The closest internartional schools are probably in Rome. I assume that your children are bi-lingual? How does your experience of the education systems weigh up against the quality of life?
