Succinct or what, first time round?Anyway, is anybody looking to upgrade and therefore dispose of an unwanted above ground pool? Ideally no less than 15 ft diameter.

We are just about finished with our house and are looking to let it out for holidays. We know we will have to pay tax and intend to declare any income in u.k.
Well, nearly at the end of our build and down to the nitty gritty bits. It seems that the venerable (and very ugly) corrugated iron garage that was on site when we bought is not acceptable.
I am hoping some of the friends in the Northern Tuscany area ( Group - what Group?) might be able to help. We are arriving this Thursday in the Bagni di Lucca area and need to buy some RAT POISON on the way in.
Hi everyone The lovely Ian from Euroman and van is delivering to us in our area (Bagni di Lucca) around the 19th September. I believe he may have space for a quarter load going down, not sure about going back.

Have been back one week from our trip to Bagni. The new house is looking good, we were all ready to put up the spiral staircase BUT... one step missing!
Hello everybody, and welcome to the newcomers - it looks like we will be meeting more Stranieri on our next visit. Advice needed - we usually transfer money to our bank in Italy in sterling - and get whatever the rate is over there on the day. An
A few weeks ago somebody was talking about a business transporting to and from Italy. I have lost the name - of course. We are looking to send a small load down to Bagni di Lucca to coincide with our visit in the first week of July.

Pamela Presumably you are looking to have work done in Italy? Apply the same method that you would if having work done in England - find a couple of geometras, outline what you need doing and ask for a loose estimate of the likely costs. Obviously they would need to do a serious survey in order to give a full estimate but you might get some idea. If you procceed then make sure that the quotation is referred to on a regular basis, as you would for any work undertaken in U.K. Do as Fillide suggests and research as described.A personal comment here but... if you have that attitude to geometras does it also apply to all other workmen in Italy? If so then perhaps you need to speak to others who have had work done and realise that not everybody is out to get you! Good luck
rachel68 Our experience is that we bought an old chestnut drying barn, which had never been a house. We had to have it dismantled and then a huge concrete pad laid. A new house was then built, but clad with the old stone - adding on to the original footprint at the same time. My memory of this is that, if your house has been a house, then different rules apply. Get yourself a good geometra to advise. By the way, what area are you in? Best wishes
Well, I'm not a great fan of some of the sort of art that appears on the website BUT.. there are lots of people who do like to wander round looking at art so lets hope it is a success, for the organisers and for Bagni di Lucca. Fabbriche
Hi there I think you will find threads on this fromthe past but, we found it difficult to find what we wanted to furnish our house when looking in Northern Tuscany. I'm afraid we have had quite a lot of secondhand furniture brought down from England. Good quality secondhand is cheap and plentiful in UK. Ikea was great for sofa, bed, kitchen etc.. Have fun. We found our spiral staircase from www.hallgate-timber.co.uk. They are based in Lincolnshire but sell all the Italian nifty staircases. We bought it from them and then it was delivered from Modena, Italy. Hope this helps. Fabbriche
Aha! Perhaps Gail Somers has a job as a postie!! And,, in response to Flip, perhaps if you DO tip them they might make a special point of delivering your mail! Sorry, it's the Christmas spirit got into me - but we can dream. Merry Xmas Fabbriche
Would just like to add my thanks for Fillide's explanation. I can't influence the outcome but it does help me to see a little more clearly what is happening in Italian politics at the moment. It would be great to see Italy moving away from the possibility of Berlusconi making a comeback. Fabbriche
Thanks Penny We have got to the point of needing to communicate with the Commune, also get ourselves a proper address and a P.O.Box at the local post office. Will have to bite the bullet and have a go at the above. Thanks again Fabbriche
Coo, my husband would move to Italy lock, stock and barrel TOMORROW if he thought he would NEVER hear the Archers again! Good luck Fabbriche
