I am fast approaching the need to renew my driving licence as it is due to expire this mid year.
I have a regular sum of money sent over from the UK every month. This month however the money left my UK account and has yet to arrive here in Italy (Banca della Marche).
I saw this comment from a Californian news item............Emerging Cuisines from Emerging Markets - As the world grows smaller, the selection of cuisines grows larger and guests’ palettes are begging to try new flavours.
It will take a quite monumental event to prise us from our wonderful life and friends here. BUT,................. what/where is the future for the younger generation here ?
Being a full time resident here in Italy, we are having a month or so on holiday in another EU country (not in the UK, our country of origin). Does anybody know what 'travel' related health cover are we 'entitled' to ?
I'm sure someone here will advise (hopefully)............I have some 30/40 false acacia trees (the ones with the spikes - ouch !), they have grown in the last 5 years to some 15/20metres high.
"Mr Berlusconi told Italian television: "Life in Italy is good. The restaurants are full. It's difficult to get a seat on a plane they're so busy; holidays are all booked up."There you go then, no financial crisis here !?S

You will need a UK sky account, OR, someone elses, that I'm pretty sure of ! S
I have to say I would always comment IF I had any views, but I have never been to or heard of the place! Enjoy it regardless ! S
Yup we did have a secondary bashing, but that was a couple of days ago. Now and for the next week or so it is looking like a slow thaw is underway (great !). It was about a two week bombardment which left us bunkered down pretty much unable to get the car out as we had about a metre of the white stuff. Our Comune were superb along with the protezione civile people. Also of great help to ourselves were members of this Forum who offered great advice and support. S
Seems strange that you cannot 'delete' a post ! S
sebastiano........... Likewise, trenches all around our house, our woodpile accessible. Sorry to hear about the snow chains, you're not the first to suffer with this problem. It LOOKS like we are over the worst (??!!),forecast here (as of today) is cold but sunny,so we might get a slow thaw. S
Blimey, our cat doesn't like snow when it is three feet deep ! Our Comune have been in touch twice now asking if we are alright, if we need bread, medicines or anything else. They've also have had a digger down our track twice to give us a chance to get out. How good is that? S
Hi sagraiasolar, Thanks for the tip, next year I will certainly be more prepared. No excuse for me, but it's my first diesel and a lesson for the future. I replied earlier saying that a tray of warm ashes under the car seems to have done the trick. I know the next 72hrs are bringing with them more snow and again very cold at night. Hopefully, my latest 'blanketting' exercise will help. S
Hi getsett, thanks for asking, I took this mornings ashes (warm/hot) from the fire and placed them on a metal tray under the car, an hour or so later, the car started up...................great ! I have now wrapped the car up more than before and hopefully I can keep it warmer until we can get out and about again. There doesn't look like any real thawing weather here for another 7/10 days. Some very kind friends down the road from us popped down to the supermarket to update our provisions, so all in all we're coping. ( a sort of meals on wheels !) S
Thanks for these Gala Placidia..............to add...........if you see any yellow snow, it is NOT limoncello ! S
My Sedici is a diesel and is parked under an open ended car port; I thought I might try getting out tomorrow to maybe stock up on a few more supplies (if the stores have any !). Car started fine (after sitting still for a week), BUT............... then it cut out and now won't start, battery is fine,..............I assume the diesel is 'frozen' ? No idea what to do when I do try again !!! S
