Questions Asked

I became a pensioner in March and have had to use the health service here for the first time recently. I am registered as resident in Le Marche and wonder how I stand re prescriptione etc.

Still looking for a caravan for my friend for his renovation - first one was falling apart and second one was taken off the market. Been told there is an Italian version of Exchange and Mart - does anyone know its name? Any help is appreciated

Wanted - a caravan suitable for 1 person to use whilst a house is renovated. Preferably close to Montefiore in Le Marche but would consider other regions if close and the caravan is easily moved.

I have a problem re parking in front of my apartment. My vendor said it was communal parking and so it was included in the contract.

As an addition to the last post re second hand stuff - can anyone recommend a book that outlines the whole restoration procedure from start to finish?

We're planning to renovate an old farmhouse in Le Marche in the traditional style.

New to Italy and just bought a new car. Insurance bill is horrific as the particular company won't recognise no claims from Sheila's Wheels although S Wheels are owned by esure via the Bank of Scotland - hardly an unknown bank!

I'm just back from a few days in Rome and it is €2 per person per night. We rented an apartment and gave the cash to the owner - where it went after that is anyone's guess!

I can confirm Badger's comment - I brought a Sharp Combi oven over from the UK and it works perfectly well here.

Charlotte, Thank you so much for this - I was told that you would be the person knowing all about it!!

Don't know what happened here but this is what I wanted to say - I understand France will be requiring all drivers to carry a breathalyser in the vehicle - anyone know how to get hold of cheap disposable ones?

I only got the UK programmes associated with Italian Sky - no UK landline channels which is why I cancelled my subscription, I could never find much or real interest. To get the UK BBC, ITV etc I pay €5/month to My Private Network and it works well.

I was asked by sprostini to keep the forum informed. Here is a reply i got from the pension service dealing with Brits living abroad:- The form E121  will give health cover on the same terms as a Italian National. This means that whatever a person in Italy has to pay for you would also have to pay for. However, I am unable to advise you exactly what is covered under the form E121/S1 in Italy. It is a matter for the Italian authorities to determine exactly what level of healthcare you may be entitled to under Italian legislation, I would advise you contact your local office in the area where you live for this information. If you wished to obtain treatment or medication that was not available under the Italian state scheme, you would be responsible for the costs. I can confirm that the Italian government do claim expenses from the UK for your health care in Italy. This confirms no free prescriptions for women until age 65, so I'll just have to stay healthy until then!
