So the Nationwide has introduced bank charges - £1 fee and 2% commission on every withdrawal via ATM abroad - Im gutted. But, I had no advance warning and am also deeply annoyed. Anyone else in the same boat?
Somewhat open mouthed to see a large ad for Giambrone on the front page of the Italy Mag website.
Does anyone have any info on the scudo fiscale. It seems that the new version is not only retroactive, but anyone bringing money into Italy could be liable for 5% tax if they are resident.

prima casa is your official residence (anagraphical) - there is no other way to have a prima casa ...
a civet or a lynx -
ICI is not payable on a prima casa unless is it is catasto'd as a villa or more - A8 or A9 and then you are not exempt. You will pay ICI on other properties on the same land if they are classed as dwellings. ICI is payable on all second homes. The last date for payment was last Tuesday.
http://www.notarypublicinlondon.com/index.htmlnotaio in London
You could use an Italian notary in london - there is one near Piccadilly - but basically if you bought in comunion of goods, it remains 50% your ex-wife's for ever, and she will have to sign away her right to it in front of a notaio, and you will have produce the proof/divorce documents/ etc when and if you decide to sell.
10 euros! Here they are between 1 and 3 euros. The difference between north and south! Most Geometras, some estate agents and sbrigapratica subscribe to SISTER for a couple of hundred euros a year - and download all the visure free.
You should however remember that visure catastale are not legal documents - they are not proof of ownership and can be, and are often, wrong. They are also free - if you pay it is because the agent/geometra who supplies them subscribes to a service and wants to recoup his outlay - the actual visure and estratti di mappe are gratis.
Taxes, notaios fees all must be paid in euros at the moment of the act - so you can't use the day rate, but transfer the money before. If you use a different currency to buy the property, the law requires that the money passes before the notaio, so even if you're using a different currency with bank transfers, the money has to be in the recipients account (with receipt) before the act is signed, which does mean that you could transfer all the money and the seller doesnt show up for the act - and theres nothing you can do. Anti recycling of money must show where the money comes from - bank account, issuing bank, currency and means of transfer - if you dont want to pay in euros, as a buyer Id receomend you find a notaio who is happy with it otherwise they can make your llife very difficult.
You should receive quiet enjoyment of the property, but the neighbours loo is not your landlords fault, so Im afraid there is very little you can reasonably do. I think 540 in agency fees is outrageous though, usualy its at most 1 months rent. Short of spending the next ten years in court, you should walk away, but it might be worth appealing to your landlord directly.
You have to register the car in Italy after 6 months (or is it a year?)- via the motorizzazzione and it becomes an Italian car. It costs, depending on the horse power and engine size as well as the infamous cavalli fiscali. Then there's the revisione - MOT and then you can drive without fear of being stopped by the carabinieri.
