I have been told that I may be liable to pay towards the nursing home fees of my mother-in-law, with dementia, in France. We have been estranged and out of touch for over 20 years. I have heard that I can be asked to pay.

One of our neighbours (Italian) had panels fitted over a year ago and has not recieved a cent, He now has a several boilers (hot water tank) with an emersion heater which he turnes on when they are generating. He seems happy as his bill has gone down. When they finished installing his panels they left a large crate of new panels on his land he kept phoning up to get them to take them away it took about 6 months. he only bothered as it was awkard to get his car in and out.
Thank you for your reply; I was trying to find out, in a roundabout way, if you have to show your income tax (l’imposta sul reddito) on the sale of a property. Someone told me this was the case and I am concerned as I never informed the authorities as I do not have an income in Italy.
If you have a UK pension paid directly into an Italian bank account the exchange rate may be horribly poor I was thinking of the uk state pension, I have been led to belive that the exchange rate is the official rate and no charges are made either end. does anyone know any better?
I liked your reply can you help me a bit more. I am like the original post resident in Italy for 6 years and fill out a tax form in the UK, but below the tax allowance. I have not informed the Italian tax authority what are the penalties if the authorities find out. Also when I reach 65 and I want to have my pension paid into an Italian Bank, will that flag up anything at the tax office?
