wow Alan, you gound a lot of useful information. however, what I would recommend are three in particular. Forcella and Porta Nolana are easy to reach and you can find really lots of nice things at good prices. Poggioreale is the biggest one and here you will find really everything!!! Good luck and good shopping :-)
Beery I totally agree with you... Was just thinking about some other famous persons of souther Italy...well not to mention culture and monuments... Think about Empedocles the philosopher or Quasimodo, which won the nobel in literature. Lets talk about Bellini, the opera composer, or Tornatore, the famous director. I really can't believe that people waste their time to come up with such stats...ridiculous!!!
