.....a drying cabinet, like this one at john lewis http://www.johnlewis.com/230676470/Product.aspx I'd have thought you could make a reasonable drying cabinet with a fairly strong tubular heater and a [ventilated] box. However, a normal clothes airer [no fancy heating elements etc] in front of the fire works pretty well for us

Thanks Alan - the John Lewis drying cabinet looked good but troppo costo! Ditto the gas tumble dryers Penny.Our knicks will stay damp, meanwhile am pursuing the idea of a tubular low wattage heater in cupboard idea - but would be good to know if anyone has tried this...??Otherwise - its the old drying racks over the rads job .....
try a gas tumble dryer.

How about a gas tumble dryer - very popular in the US: http://www.onedry.it/ or http://www.asciugatriciagas.it/1/prodotti_583102.html I can't find prices today but when I lokked before they were between 1400 & 1800 euro.
