Well, I'm male. Have lived in various parts of Italy and visited many other areas, a favourite of mine is Naples and the people there are very friendly. I also have a home in Britain, but reside mainly in Italy. I have many interests.. and vices, eating too much is one and doing damage to a good red wine is another. Is that enough?
Sorry

Submitted by Sabina on Fri, 01/08/2010 - 07:22Couldn't agree with you more...I love Naples too! I lived in Sorrento for several years - working in travel and used to go into Naples often - both by car (a wonderful old-style 500) or train and never had any problems. Lively, colourful, warm-hearted people the Neapolitans, and although it's a city with many problems - there's also much that's oh so right with it! I now live in Sabina (northern Lazio) and also loved to knock back the rosso...talking of which, ever try the Gragnano when in Naples...got a slight fizz to it which I normally don't like, but in this case...squisito! Good food? Another passion, but now that middle age has set in, am making a last ditch attempt to lose some excess weight! Healthy as the Med. Diet might be...there are lots of wonderful dishes that do pile on the pounds! Oh well...they do say the Italians live to eat whereas the Brits eat to live! Although I don't think that is nearly as true as it once was, they certainly take time and pleasure in their food here. What I do miss however - living out in the sticks as I do (which is otherwise perfect and just what I want) - is the lack of opportunity to eat / cook other cuisine and have to rely on friends coming out to bring me the ingredients - which when they are flying low cost is not easy due to luggage restrictions! Never mind...there are other things in life too and you can't have it all!

Hi Sabina, Surely it's that Italians work to live, and the Protestant approach being the Brits live to work? I also live out in the sticks, and love and hate it for many reasons. Forums like this one do alleviate some of the winter boredom that sets in. Cooking is one of my hobbies too and when visiting my home in the U.K. I stock up on all that cannot be found in the Italian stores. But, as you say there are other things in life

Hi Sabina, Never tried the Gragnano wine you mention. Do they have a wine group here on this forum? Surely it's that Italians work to live, and the Protestant approach being the Brits live to work? Yes, I am male. I don't really know Naples (anyway what's wrong with liking Naples ?), and I'm sure the people of Naples are lovely. I have lived in some parts of Italy, prefer white wine, and sorry to say I like French whites, though the ones I like cost a bob or two. So, yes I like wine. My wife and I have lived in Italy for over three years now and love to travel around all parts of Italy discovering her delights. Am looking forward to getting to know people on here and hope that I can offer some help and add interest to this forum.
Welcome Colonel

Ah you do add interest with your tag! Was it the candleholder in the library? Ha, I don't live in Italy yet but plan to. I'm on the west side of the US. Spent a wonderful month in the Garfagnana area last June and plan this coming June to go much further south. Looking to find a spot to settle on indefinitely, in warm (temp wise) Italian surrounds. Love all things Italian!
Thank you

No problem with the spelling! I only understand and speak a little Italian. I listen to cd's every chance I get but I have no one here to talk with. I do plan to enroll in a school as soon as I get set up. I love listening to the language. It is one of the draws for me. Do you speak?
Yes. I speak some Italian and
