Curious vegetable solved!

Well thank you everyone, that was most enlightening! It was also interesting to see again all the different variations in spelling that people use. That was definitely how they spelled it in the Marche! Gala, I thought muscari were grape hyacinths. If that is the case, then that is probably why they looked so like bulbs to me! I did not know that another sort of muscari was like onions!
