Looking for a Nurse Practitioner job

03/30/2010 - 09:17

Hi everyone. Hope weather's better wherever you are in Italy. It's chuckin it here oop North. Just wondering if anyone knows of a local clinic who needs an English-speaking nurse. Had been looking at job options, and because I still am learning the language, I'm unable to work in a hospital. We're initially moving to Le Marche. Thanks in advance to those who might be able to give me an advice. All my very best, Joy

a lot of foreigners work at private practises. A quick search comes up with probably the best option: http://www.sstefano.it/SitoLocaleENG/offerta_lavoro.asp other private clinics are:   http://www.villasilvia.com/ http://www.casadicuravillaserena.com/ http://www.dongnocchi.it/ I was operated last year at: La Pineta S.R.L. Casa Di Cura Villa Dei Pini The two last ones I found:     Casa Di Cura Privata Villa Anna     Casa Di Cura Dr. Marchetti But be aware that it is next to impossible to find a job if you don't speak a decent Italian.

If you are willing/qualified to work with elderly (often difficult) English patients this has been a good option for a friend of mine. He is based in an area where there are quite a few ageing Brits (maybe this isn't yet true of Le Marche), and he has been an absolute godsend to many families coping with somebody with Alzheimers or dementia. He has also helped Brits cope with hospitalisations, and general medical stuff where (because the patients don't feel confident speaking Italian) they simply prefer an English person to give them a jab! Clearly this is a bit of a 'hand to mouth' existence, and it would help if you had a knowledge of both Italian and the Italian health system; but there is an ex-pat market for general medical assistance, so try to advertise yourself in any English language newsletters in your area, for a start. Good luck.
