There was an article on this in the Daily Telegraph not so long ago, I think there are a few companies who insure older people, but I can't remember who they are. Our travel insurance is now part of our bank account, Halifax Ultimate Reward, and the insurance covers us until older than standard ones. you may be able to find something on the Telegraph on line. Good luck.

Thankyou both. I think I read the Telegraph article and looked at some, including Saga. It's not that they dont insure older people though, it's the fact that they are a lot more expensive than Direct Travel, who also get good reviews for their insurance. As our health has not deteriorated and neither of us take any medication at all you'd think there would be some company that took that into account. We've got our Ehic(?) cards. Is it worth getting other insurance?
EHIC

EHIC as I'm sure you know covers 'National Health' equivalent treatment. If you are happy with that and healthy there isn't a problem, the major difference it doesn't cover you for repatriation. If you check the Internet there is a company called EHIC plus who cover the bits that the EHIC doesn't, it's kind of a bolt on. This makes it cheaper and you get sufficient cover. My parents used it this year. Both have heart problems and over 65 they had a really good price (sorry can't remember how much)
